A St. Louis man was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin and a firearm while he was a passenger in a car involved in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning (Aug. 20) on New Sugar Creek Road in Fenton.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 29-year-old Fenton man was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra north on New Sugar Creek Road at Hawkins Road at 1:15 a.m. when he crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2010 Ford Fusion head-on.
The Fenton man and the driver of the Fusion, a 21-year-old St. Louis woman, both sustained moderate injuries in the accident, as did a 29-year-old St. Louis man who was a passenger in the Fusion, the report said.
The driver of the Sierra was taken by the Fenton Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
The two St. Louis residents in the Fusion both were taken by the Fenton Fire Protection District to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Both were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Later that morning, Highway Patrol officers arrested the 29-year-old St. Louis man on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of a firearm.
He will not be named unless he is charged by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
All three people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the report said, and both vehicles were totaled.
