A St. Louis man died Wednesday morning, July 3, after he stepped into the travel lanes on South Hanley Road north of Sunnen Road in St. Louis County and was struck by an SUV driven by a High Ridge man, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:45 a.m., Marcus C. Collins, 34, of St. Louis stepped onto northbound South Hanley Road and was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Brian J. Fox, 53, of High Ridge, the report said.
Collins was taken by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis where he was pronounced dead at 5:18 a.m. the same morning, according to the report.
No injuries were reported for Fox.
He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The SUV was moderately damaged, the report said.
