Tabitha K. Duncan, 22, of Imperial was seriously hurt Wednesday night (Oct. 21) in a two-car accident on I-55 north of Hwy. 141 in Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:54 p.m., Duncan was driving a 2009 Honda Civic north on the interstate, and the front left side of the car struck the back right corner of a northbound 2016 Ford Fiesta, and then the Civic ran off the right side of the road, continued along a steep embankment and overturned, ejecting her, the report said.

Robert J. Tierney, 40, of St. Louis was driving the Fiesta. No injuries were reported for him.

Duncan was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County and then was transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where she was listed in serious condition this afternoon (Oct. 22), a Mercy spokesman said.

She was not wearing a seat belt, and Tierney was wearing one, the patrol reported.

The Civic was totaled, and the Fiesta had minor damage, the report said.
