Missouri state highway patrol patch

A House Springs woman was hurt late Friday morning (Aug. 3) after her car ran into a tractor on Hwy. MM in House Springs.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Starlit Childers, 48, was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus east on Hwy. MM west of Robin Road at 11:05 a.m. when she crossed the center line and struck the rear wheel of a westbound 1997 Western Star tractor driven by Robert Riggs, 39, of Fenton. The Ford ran off the right side of the road and the rear of the car struck the guard rail. The tractor began to skid, crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road, then ran into a guard rail, then crossed the center line again and ran off the right side of the road.

Riggs was not injured in the collision, but Childers sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Big River Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the report said.

She was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report; both vehicles were totaled.
