A House Springs man and woman, along with a Desloge man and a Lonedell man, were injured Wednesday night (Nov. 25) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. N north of Mohican Drive in Robertsville, which is in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 8:15 p.m., Matthew L. Wilder, 27, of House Springs was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 north on the highway, allegedly traveling too fast for the road conditions, and the pickup crossed the center into the path of a southbound 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Daniel D. Hopper, 32, of Lonedell, the report said.
Hopper tried to avoid the oncoming pickup by driving to the right, but the S10 struck the Ranger head-on, ejecting a passenger from the bed of the S10, according to the report.
Wilder and Hopper had minor injuries, and two passengers from the S10 were seriously injured – Hannah M. Runkles, 23, of House Springs and Jeremy J. Powers, 25, of Desloge – the report said.
Wilder, Runkles and Powers were taken by ambulance Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, and Hopper was treated on the scene by ambulance personnel and refused to be transported to a hospital, according to the report.
Wilder and Powers were wearing a seat belts, and Hopper and Runkles were not, the patrol reported.
Both pickups were totaled, the report said.
Hopper was wanted in Franklin County on a warrant for driving with no insurance, no registration and no license, and he was arrested at 9:46 p.m., the patrol reported.
