A 55-year-old Hillsboro woman was arrested for suspicion of DWI following a one-vehicle accident Thursday evening (May 9) in the 5800 block of Glade Chapel Road north of Hillsboro. The woman also was hurt in the wreck, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 5 p.m., the woman was driving a 2016 Ford Escape east on Glade Chapel Road and swerved to avoid an animal in the road, which caused the SUV to run off the left side of the road, where it struck a utility pole, the report said.
She was moderately injured and taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
She was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The SUV was moderately damaged, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the woman at the hospital, according to the report.
