A Hillsboro man was killed and a House Springs man was injured Friday afternoon (June 18) in a one-vehicle accident on Allen Road south of Rice Road northwest of Pevely, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 2:06 p.m., Donald R. Eiring, 41, of Hillsboro was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer south on Allen Road, began sliding on loose gravel and ran off the right side of the road before returning to the road and then running off the left side, where the SUV began spinning and struck a tree. Then, the SUV began spinning the other way, and the undercarriage struck a ditch before the vehicle began overturning, the report said.

Eiring was pronounced dead at the scene by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District personnel.

A passenger in the SUV – Charles A. Clinton, 33, of House Springs – had minor injuries and was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The SUV was totaled, the report said.
