At 5:05 a.m., James W. Hoekstra, 50, of Fenton was driving a 2021 Nissan Sentra south on New Sugar Creek Road and could not stop in time when he saw Smith standing in the southbound lane, and the front of the car struck Smith, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Hoekstra, who was wearing a seat belt.
Smith was taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
However, the hospital had no information about him, a Mercy spokesman said.
