Douglas Morris, 52, of High Ridge was killed Sunday evening (Sept. 29) when the motorcycle he was riding on Hwy. 30 at Northwest Boulevard in unincorporated Fenton ran into the back of a pickup, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7 p.m., Morris was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson FLHRI motorcycle west on Hwy. 30, behind a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by Jack Davis, 65, of High Ridge. When the pickup stopped at a red traffic signal at Northwest Boulevard, Morris swerved to the right to avoid a collision, but the motorcycle began to slide, and the front left of it hit the rear of the truck, the report said.
The impact of the collision threw Morris off the motorcycle, according to the report.
Morris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Davis had minor injuries and was taken by car to Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
Morris was wearing a helmet and Davis was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The motorcycle was totaled and the pickup was extensively damaged, the report said.
