Five Fenton residents, including four children, were injured Monday afternoon, Sept. 4, in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 30 and West Rock Creek Road in High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:28 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, Justin D. Kirk, 33, of Arnold was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera east on the highway when he allegedly ran a red light, and the front of the car struck the left side of a northbound 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Kyla R. Swearingen, 23, of Fenton, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Kirk; however, a passenger in the Ciera – a 5-year-old Fenton boy – was moderately injured.
In addition, Swearingen and three passengers in the Sante Fe were hurt. Swearingen and a 5-year-old Fenton boy were moderately injured, and a male infant and a 2-year-old girl, both of Fenton, sustained minor injuries.
All those injured in the crash were taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.
According to the report, both drivers and all the passengers were wearing seat belts or using safety devices.
The patrol did not release the childrens’ names because they are juveniles.
The Ciera was totaled and the Santa Fe was moderately damaged, the report said.
