Two women, one of Festus and the other of Herculaneum, were injured Friday morning, March 25, in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 67 and Buck Creek Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Elaine W. Sratton, 73, of Festus was driving a 2015 Ford Escape east on Buck Creek Road and reportedly ran a stop sign and failed to yield to oncoming traffic while trying to turn left onto the highway, and the front of the SUV struck the left side of a northbound 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by Jordyn M. Lawrence, 19, of Herculaneum, the report said.
Sratton was moderately injured, and Lawrence had minor injuries. Sratton was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, and Lawrence was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Jefferson, according to the report.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.
