A Festus woman died and two Festus men and two young Festus children were injured Sunday afternoon (Nov. 7) in a one-vehicle accident on I-270 north of Gravois Road in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 2:05 p.m., Colby A. Price, 22, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on the interstate and ran off the west side of the road, where the SUV struck a guardrail and overturned, ejecting one of the four passengers – Marissa L. Nixon, 20, of Festus, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.
Price and another passenger in the SUV – Randall C. Nixon, 39 – were seriously injured and taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
Price was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon (Nov. 8), and Randall Nixon was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, Mercy spokespeople said.
A 1-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl had minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. No information about their conditions was available.
Marissa Nixon was not wearing a seat belt, but all the others in the vehicle either were wearing a seat belt or restrained with a safety device, the patrol reported.
The SUV was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the names of the children because they are juveniles.
