Two teenagers, one from Festus and the other from Tiff, were injured Friday night, Oct. 25, in a one-car accident at Hwy. 61 and Cole Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:58 p.m., a 17-year-old Festus boy was driving a 2019 Ford Fusion and while allegedly speeding and failing to yield to a law enforcement officer, he tried to pass a vehicle on the right and ran off the right side of the road, where the Fusion overturned, the report said.
The 17-year-old was moderately injured, and a passenger in the Fusion – Kalli M. Boyer, 19, of Tiff – was seriously injured, and both were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to area hospitals. The 17-year-old was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Boyer was taken to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, according to the report.
Neither teen was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The car was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the 17-year-old’s name because he is a juvenile.
