Two men, one from Festus and the other from Bonne Terre, were injured this morning (Jan. 19) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. Y east of Bogart Spring Road north of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:37 a.m., Michael S. Dean, 49, of Bonne Terre was driving a 2016 Nissan NV200 east on Hwy. Y, and the cargo van ran off the right side of the road, where it struck a mailbox and fence post before the van and the unit it was towing continued down an embankment and struck several trees, the report said.
Dean had minor injuries, and a passenger in the van – Dakota B. Perry, 23, of Festus – was moderately hurt. Both men were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
Dean was not wearing a seat belt, and Perry was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The vehicle was totaled, the report said.
