A 6-year-old Festus boy was injured Friday morning, Aug. 12, in a two-car accident on Hwy. 67 east of Buck Creek Road southwest of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:40 a.m., Lissa A. Shoults, 60, of Festus was driving an eastbound 2002 Nissan Altima and while trying to cross southbound Hwy. 67 to turn north on the highway, she pulled into the path of a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Elizabeth J. Roam, 29, of Festus, which struck the Altima, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Shoults or Roam.

However the 6-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Cruze was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, according to the report.

Shoults and Roam were wearing seat belts, and the boy was using a safety device, the patrol reported.

Both cars were extensively damaged, the report said.

The patrol did not release the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.
