A 27-year-old Fenton man suspected in a Feb. 15 hit-and-run accident on Hwy. 141 between Arnold and Fenton has been taken into custody, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

The man was arrested Feb. 19 in Jefferson County in connection with a different incident, and the highway patrol is seeking charges against him for that incident, as well as for the Feb. 15 hit-and-run accident, Cpl. Logan Bolton said.

The man will not be named until he is charged, and as of this afternoon, Feb. 23, no charges had been filed against him in either case.

The highway patrol is seeking charges against the Fenton man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony drug possession, possession of a controlled substance and second-degree assault vehicle injury stemming from the Feb. 19 incident, the report said.

Bolton said the highway patrol also will seek a charge against the man for leaving the scene of an accident tied to the incident at 5:25 p.m. Feb. 15, when he is believed to have been driving a blue Chevrolet Cruze when it struck a 2000 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 on Hwy. 141 near Fiedler Lane.

Blake Ball, 33, of Arnold was riding the motorcycle, which was stopped behind other traffic at a red light when it was struck from behind. The impact flung Ball into the air, and he landed on a Chevrolet Camaro stopped in front of him at the intersection, the report said.

A video posted on Facebook shows the car strike the motorcycle and then the driver back up, go around a median, get into the left turn lane and then drive away on northbound Hwy. 141.

Ball said he returned to work Monday, Feb. 20. He said he did not go to the hospital until the day after the collision, and he believes he will need therapy treatment for whiplash.
