A Fenton man was seriously injured Monday morning, Nov. 7, in a motorcycle crash on New Sugar Creek Road at Ashwood Drive in the Murphy area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 10:04 a.m., Melik K. Benton, 30, of Florissant was backing up a 2004 Freightliner Cascadia on northbound New Sugar Creek Road when Gavin B. Eernisse, 20, of Fenton, who was riding a 2000 Kawasaki ZX11 north, struck the rear of the big rig, the report said.
Eernisse was taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where he was treated and transferred to another hospital, according to a hospital spokesman.
According to the report, Eernisse was wearing a helmet and Benton was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The motorcycle was totaled, and the truck sustained minor damage, the report said.
