A Dittmer woman died Tuesday afternoon, March 28, a day after she was struck by a pickup while she was walking along Hwy. O east of Hwy. AM in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 27, Rebecca A. Fitzgerald, 44, of Dittmer was walking on or near the white line on westbound Hwy. O when George M. Brown, 80, of St. Clair, who was driving west in a 2019 Ram 1500, struck her after a different vehicle ahead of the pickup swerved to avoid hitting Fitzgerald, the report said.
Fitzgerald was taken by Meramec Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Washington and then transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where she was pronounced dead at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
No injuries were reported for Brown, who was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Ram was moderately damaged, the report said.
