Jason R. Hussey, 34, of Dittmer was seriously injured Friday evening (Nov. 5) in a two-car accident on Hwy. 50 west of Buth Lane near Beaufort in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:35 p.m., Abhilash Kapavarapu, 31, of St. Louis was driving a 2019 Audi A4 west on the highway, and while he reportedly was trying to pass another westbound vehicle in a no-passing zone, Hussey, who was driving an eastbound 2010 Ford Mustang, saw the Audi in his lane and steered to the right, but the front left side of the Audi struck the front left side of the Mustang. The impact caused the Mustang to run off the road, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Kapavarapu.
Hussey was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Mustang was totaled, and the Audi was extensively damaged, the report said.
