Kaitlyn D. Anderson, 25, of De Soto died this morning (Nov. 18) after she and two other Missouri Department of Transportation employees were struck by a car while they were working on a ramp from northbound Hwy. 231 (Telegraph Road) to westbound I-255 in south St. Louis County. James W. Brooks, 58, of St. Louis also died, and Michael S. Brown, 35, of House Springs was seriously injured, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At about 11 a.m., the MoDOT employees were behind one of the department’s 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 trucks in the right turn lane on a ramp, with the vehicle’s emergency lights on, and a 52-year-old Hillsboro man, in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, reportedly drove through the construction zone and hit Anderson, Brooks and Brown, as well as the rear of the truck, the report said.

Anderson and Brooks were pronounced dead at the scene, and Brown was transported by the Mehlville Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.

The Hillsboro man, who was moderately injured, also was taken by Mehlville Fire to Mercy Hospital South, the Highway Patrol reported.

The Cavalier was extensively damaged, and the Silverado had minor damage, the report said.
