Two men, including one from De Soto, were hurt in a two-vehicle traffic accident Saturday afternoon (July 24) in Reynolds County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Mikeal Berthelot, 24, of De Soto was driving a 1993 Buick Century south on Hwy. 49 eight miles north of Centerville at 4:40 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Shawn Grose, 50, of Sedalia.

Berthelot sustained minor injuries and he was taken to Iron County Memorial Hospital in Ironton, the report said.

The report made no mention of an injury to Grose, but a passenger in her Blazer, Zachery Parrett, 20, of Silex, suffered serious injuries and was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.

Updates on their conditions were not available.

Grose was wearing a seat belt but the report indicated that officers did not know whether Berthelot or Parrett were. Both vehicles were totaled.
