A Fenton woman and an Arnold man were injured Thursday night, July 4, in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 231 (Telegraph Road) in Arnold, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:13 p.m., Crystal M. McKinley, 47, of Fenton, in a westbound 2017 GMC Acadia, was turning right into a private driveway at 3651 Telegraph Road, and James J. Meehan, 18, of Arnold was driving a 2018 Ford Focus west on Telegraph. Meehan reportedly failed to keep a proper lookout and had to steer toward the right and into a ditch to avoid a third vehicle that was stopped on Telegraph waiting for McKinley to complete her turn. After the Focus went into the ditch, it struck the front right side of the Acadia, the report said.
McKinley was moderately injured, and Meehan sustained minor injuries, and both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
McKinely was treated and released, and the hospital had no information about Meehan, a Mercy spokesman said.
Both McKinley and Meehan were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Acadia and Focus were extensively damaged, the report said.
