A 39-year-old Crystal City man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on drugs and alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on Saturday morning, Oct. 28, following a one-vehicle accident on I-55 north of Meramec Bottom Road in south St. Louis County. He was injured in the crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7 a.m., the man was driving a 2018 Ford F150 south on the interstate and ran off the right side of the road, where the pickup struck a sign, a guard rail twice and a retaining wall before overturning, the report said.

The man was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The pickup was extensively damaged, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the man at 10:05 a.m. at the hospital.

His name will not be published unless charges are filed in the case, and as of this morning, Oct. 29, none had been filed.
