A Cedar Hill man, a Leslie woman and a Leslie man were injured Thursday evening, June 8, in a two-vehicle accident on Shotwell Road near Hwy. 50 in Franklin County. The Cedar Hill man was driving a car that was being chased because he and the Leslie woman were suspected of stealing items from a property in the area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:07 p.m., according to the report, the 43-year-old Cedar Hill man was driving a 1999 Saturn SL2 east on Shotwell Road, and the 58-year-old Leslie man stopped a 2007 Ram 3500 pickup he was driving in the eastbound lane facing west in an attempt to stop the car. A witness to the incident also had stopped a vehicle in the eastbound lane to try to stop the car. The Cedar Hill man steered to the left to try to avoid the vehicles but then returned to the road and struck the pickup.

The Cedar Hill man and the Leslie man were moderately injured, and the Leslie woman had minor injuries. The Cedar Hill man and the Leslie woman were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington, and the Leslie man was taken by private conveyance to the same hospital, the report said.

The Cedar Hill man was wearing a seat belt, and he Leslie man and woman were not wearing them, the patrol reported.

The Saturn and Ram were totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol did not report any information about arrests.
