A woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning, Oct. 26, in a two-vehicle accident at Hwy. 67 and Montauk Drive between Festus and Olympian Village, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 8:31 a.m., Harold R. Hoffman, 72, of Sparta had stopped on westbound Montauk Drive in a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig before proceeding to turn left onto southbound Hwy. 67 and pulling into the path of a 2019 Hyundai Elantra driven by Shyann M. Gerren, 25, of Bismarck, who was headed north on the highway. The front of the car struck left side of the big rig, the report said.
Gerren was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County where she was listed in serious condition this afternoon, Oct. 27, a hospital spokesperson said.
According to the report, Gerren was not wearing a seat belt, and Hoffman was wearing one.
The Elantra was totaled, and the Cascadia had minor damage, the report said.
