A 43-year-old Belleville, Ill., man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated Friday night, May 31, following a one-car accident on Hwy. 67 north of Mount Olive Road north of Valles Mines in Jefferson County. The man was seriously hurt in the crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:47 p.m., the man was driving a 2007 Lincoln MKZ south on the highway too fast for the wet road conditions, and the car ran off the right side of the road and overturned, the report said.
The man was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The car was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the man at 10:p.m. at the hospital for DWI.
His name will not be released unless charges in the case are filed against him, and as of today, June 1, none had been filed.
