A 67-year-old Barnhart man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a three-vehicle accident on Tuesday night (Oct. 20) on the ramp from southbound I-55 to Hwy. M in Barnhart. The man was seriously hurt in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 9:35 p.m., the man was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche south on the ramp, and the front of the vehicle struck the rear of a southbound 2009 Dodge Journey that was stopped for a red light ahead. Then, the front of the Journey struck the rear of a southbound 2014 Honda CRV that also was stopped for the light, the report said.

Casondra N. Davis, 32, of Imperial was driving the Journey, and Tarrah A. Busche, 28, of Barnhart was driving the CRV. No injuries were reported for either one of them.

The 67-year-old Barnhart man was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition today (Oct. 21), according to the report.

The highway patrol arrested him for an alleged DWI at 10:06 p.m. at the hospital. His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon, none had been filed.
