An Arnold Police officer was injured in a two-vehicle accident in the intersection of Jeffco Boulevard and Starling Airport Road in Arnold. The officer was turning left through the intersection when he hit a pickup driven by an Arnold man, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
According to the accident report, the officer at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe south on Jeffco Boulevard when he made a left turn to go onto Starling Airport Road. A 37-year-old Arnold man was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado north on Jeffco Boulevard and was hit by the officer, the report said.
Arnold Police Chief Brian Carroll said Officer Todd Watson, 41, of St. Louis was driving the Tahoe. He said Watson was not responding to a call, and the Tahoe’s emergency lights and siren were not on.
Carroll said Watson has been an Arnold Police officer since 2011.
Carroll said Watson’s canine partner, Bane, was in the Tahoe. He said the dog was not injured.
Carroll said Watson was treated and released at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. He said Watson was expected to return to duty for his next scheduled shift on Monday, March 9.
The Highway Patrol did not report an injury for the man driving the pickup.
The Tahoe and Silverado were both moderately damaged, and both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Carroll said an estimated cost to repair the police SUV was not available as of today, March 6.
