Arnold Police Officer Adison M. Ashbrook was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County with minor injuries Wednesday, Jan. 31, following an accident at the intersection of Richardson and Vogel roads. The officer was the only person injured in the collision, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
An Arnold Police spokesperson said the officer was treated and released.
The accident occurred at about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday when Ashbrook, 34, of Arnold was responding to an accident in the area, authorities reported.
Ashbrook, 34, of Arnold approached the intersection from westbound Richardson Road in a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, with the vehicle’s emergency lights and siren on, and stopped at a red light to allow traffic to clear before proceeding into the intersection. However, Brian W. Cromeens, 43, of High Ridge, in a 2015 GMC Acadia, allegedly failed to yield to the police cruiser and drove into the intersection from southbound Vogel Road, the report said.
The front of the Tahoe hit the front driver’s side of the Acadia, and both SUVs began to skid on the road. The Acadia went off the right side of the road and hit a concrete traffic island, according to the report.
Ashbrook was wearing a seat belt, but Cromeens was not wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Tahoe and Acadia were totaled, the report said.
