A 50-year-old Fenton man recently was issued citations after he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Hwy. 141 and Astra Way in Arnold, causing a four-vehicle accident, and then fled the scene. The man was found walking away from a damaged SUV at the nearby intersection of Old Lemay Ferry and Old Missouri State roads, Arnold Police reported.

The man was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero north on Hwy. 141 at 1:52 p.m. Feb. 16, when he allegedly ran the red light, striking the front of a 2012 GMC Arcadia headed east on Astra Way and driven by Vincent Fels, 57, of Arnold, the report said.

After that collision, the GMC spun and its back end struck the front of a 2007 Dodge Caravan driven by Dorothy Hopen, 77, of Arnold. Then, the Dodge hit the front of a 2010 Honda Accord driven by John Harper, 78, of Jefferson County, according to the report.

Hopen was injured in the accident and was transported by Rock Township Ambulance to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The GMC sustained extensive front- and rear-end damage; the Mitsubishi and Dodge had extensive front-end damage; and the Honda had minor front-end damage. All four vehicles were towed from the scene, the report said.

Police are seeking charges against the Fenton man through the Arnold Municipal Court for leaving the scene of an accident and careless and imprudent driving, Capt. Rich Shular said.
