Arnold Police arrested a 48-year-old Arnold man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident after finding him inside a damaged pickup at the On the Run gas station, 3611 W. Outer Road, police reported.
At about 1:30 p.m. March 20, police got a report that someone driving a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado had run into a concrete barrier on I-55 south of the Meramec River Bridge. The driver allegedly drove away after hitting the barrier, which is owned by the Missouri Department of Transportation, the report said.
Officers located the pickup at the gas station off the West Outer Road and arrested the man who was in the driver’s seat. The man submitted to a breath test and allegedly registered a .199 percent blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver. He was issued summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.
MoDOT had not reported an estimate for the damage to the barrier on I-55, Wooldridge said.
