Emanuel G. Cortes, 32, of Arnold was seriously hurt Tuesday night (Aug. 4) in a one-vehicle accident on I-55 at mile marker 168 south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 10:35 p.m., Cortes was driving a 2012 Jeep Patriot south on the interstate and ran off the left side of the road and through cable barriers before the vehicle began sliding in the grass median and overturned, the report said.
He was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today (Aug. 7).
Cortes was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Jeep was totaled, the report said.
