An Arnold man was killed Saturday night (April 15) as he was attempting to push a stalled vehicle off I-270 in Sunset Hills in St. Louis County.
Two others were hurt in the accident.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Charles Boyd, 59, of Arnold, and Robert Boyd Jr. 32, of St. Louis, were pushing a 1981 GMC Sierra off of the southbound lanes of I-270 south of I-44 at 11:10 p.m. when Charles Boyd was struck by a southbound 2003 Hyundai Sonata driven by Kelsey White, 23, of High Ridge. The impact of the collision caused the Sierra to strike Robert Boyd Jr., the report said.
Charles Boyd was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS personnel at 11:27 p.m., the report said, and Robert D. Boyd Jr. sustained serious injuries and was taken by the Kirkwood Fire Department to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
An update on his condition was not available.
White sustained moderate injuries and was taken by the Mehlville Fire Protection District to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the report said.
She was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The GMC had extensive damage while the Hyundai was totaled, the report said. White was wearing a seat belt, the report said.
