A 20-year-old Arnold man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-car accident early this morning (Sept. 5) on I-55 in southeast Jefferson County that left him, a child and a teenager injured, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:17 a.m., the Arnold man was driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger north on the interstate, and while he allegedly was driving too fast and trying to exit onto a ramp, the car ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned, the report said.
The man was moderately injured, as were two passengers – a 6-year-old girl and Kylie M. Hemmen, 17, both of De Soto. The three were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, according to the report.
None of the three was wearing a seat belt or using a safety device, the patrol reported.
The car was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the driver at 3:44 a.m. at the hospital for one count of felony DWI causing serious physical injury and one count of misdemeanor DWI.
His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon, none had been filed.
