This photo of Whistle Britches was taken in February 2017 in one of her favorite spots – the sun room at Mike and Mary Koch’s De Soto home.
“She liked to look out the window there and watch the birds,” Mike Koch said. “We lost Whistle Britches last year. She was 18. We also had her sister, Mocha. She lived to be 17 1/2.”
Whistle Britches and Mocha were tabby cats.
Koch said he and his wife had to keep an eye on Whistle Britches around paper products.
“You could never leave a paper towel out or she’d chew it up,” Mike Koch said. “Also, toilet paper. I had to put it up high or she’d unroll it. She had a lot of little quirks.”
The Kochs adopted both Whistle Britches and Mocha from the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs.
“They were good kitties,” Koch said.
