Doug Williams said he and his wife, Sharon, thought they were getting a Maine coon cat, but Rambo turned out to be a feral cat.
The Byrnes Mill couple loves Rambo, nevertheless.
“My wife drove eight hours one way to get him, thinking he was a Maine coon,” Williams said. “He clearly is not, but is our sweet boy. He was, actually, a feral cat and is very smart and has a unique personality.”
Rambo, now 9, has a good temperament, Williams said.
“The hummingbirds drove him crazy, but never once did he lunge at one,” Williams said.
He said Rambo displays his intelligence in various ways.
“He’s almost human,” Williams said. “He’s very smart for a feral cat. He’s almost streetwise.”
He said his family has another cat and keeps the two felines apart.
“We also have a Maine coon, Duke,” he said. “They do OK. Maine coons have no fighting instincts. We try to keep them apart. They eat separately.”
