Leader sports editor Russell Korando said his newly adopted dog, Ranger, must be watched.
He said Ranger, about 2, is an Aussie shepherd-husky mix and weighs about 60 pounds. He and his wife, Montra, adopted Ranger from Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles this month.
“He figured out the garage door sound in a minute,” Korando said. “He runs to it when he hears it. He’s an escape artist.”
Ranger quickly found his place in the Korando household.
“He was a stray from southern Missouri, like his owner,” he said. “I gave him his name because he likes to run.”
Ranger has an amiable personality, Korando said.
“He’s good with other pets,” he said. “He does not charge at our cats. We have two cats.
“He’s a valued member of the family.”
