Karen Huskey of Hillsboro said this photo taken in April 2024 was typical of her domestic shorthair cats Max and Ash, both male.
“I was able to catch them together in a relaxed manner just enjoying the day and each other,” Huskey said.
She said Ash had to be put down, but Max is still around at age 12. She said they were brothers from the same litter raised for 10 years together on the Huskey farm north of Hillsboro.
“My in-laws have a farm and (Max and Ash) were barn cats,” she said. “We took them in to live with their little sister in our home in Hillsboro in late 2023.
“Duchess is still around. She was not very happy when they came around. We’ve had her (since she was a kitten).”
She said she has appreciated owning cats.
“We have enjoyed having them,” Huskey said.
