Debbie Dismang of Imperial said her family adopted Grampa, 9, as an old dog, and they are glad they did. He is a beagle-dachshund mix.
“We got him about 13 months ago,” she said. “We saw him on a website. My husband and I are seniors, so we wanted a senior dog. He’s a stray who had no name. We named him.”
She said Grampa has fit in well in her home.
“He is living his best life with us,” Dismang said. “He enjoys three walks a day, a fenced-in yard, playing with toys, naps and visiting with our neighbors and their dogs.”
Grampa and Dismang's other pet do not coexist well, she said.
“We have another dog, Eevie,” a pitbull mix,” Dismang said. “They don’t get along well. She’s a puppy, about 8 months old.”
The photo shows Grampa shortly after a trip to the vet for the removal of three lumps.
“They were fatty tumors,” Dismang said. “But, he’s a healthy boy now.”
