Adele Hoeing of Herculaneum sent in the picture she took of her granddaughter, Emily Hoeing, now 11. “This photo was taken at my home while I was babysitting,” Hoeing says. “I am 88 years old. Emily was about 8 or 9 months old, and Schatze was 16 years. Schatze is no longer with us.” Hoeing says the photo brings back fond memories of Schatze protecting Emily as the little girl learned to walk, learned to swim, and went for walks and adventures with her grandmother. “I have memories I will never forget,” she says.
