Valentine’s Day is the holiday when we’re reminded to take time to show our special someone our love and appreciation. There are many ways to show that affection, from sending cards or flowers to buying jewelry or the always popular box of candy.
It seems like candy has always gone hand-in-hand with Valentine’s Day, beginning when you were a school kid and received those tiny, pastel-colored hearts with sayings. As you got older, chocolates in fancy, heart-shaped boxes seemed like the ultimate Valentine’s gift.
You can always buy your sweetie some chocolates; however, if you want to give an even more thoughtful gift – one that could save you a little money as well – you might want to make your loved one a batch of this No-Cook Sensational Fudge.
This delicious, creamy, chocolate fudge is chock-full of nuts. It’s quick and easy to make but will show that special person in your life just how much you care. And, if your loved one happens to be a chocolate lover, there’s no better way to say, “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
NO-COOK SENSATIONAL FUDGE
1 1/2 teaspoons butter, softened
1 1/2 cups (9 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups (9 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon amaretto or 1 teaspoon almond extract
Dash of salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, divided
Line an 8-inch square pan with foil. Grease the foil with part of the butter. Set aside remaining butter and pan.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chips, by 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Stir in remainder of butter, sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, flavoring and salt until smooth.
Stir in 2/3 cup walnuts. Pour into prepared pan; sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Chill for 2 hours or until firm.
Using foil, lift the fudge out of the pan; discard foil. Cut fudge into 1-inch pieces or preferred-size squares and store in an airtight container. Makes 2-1/4 pounds.
