Football season brings a lot of fun and excitement. And, the food and snacks served after the local high school plays its big rival or while you’re watching Sunday NFL games on TV can be just as important as the competitions.

If you’d like to serve something a little different than the usual chips and dips or chili and crackers, then these tasty Chili Cheese Wraps and this Cheese Sauce offer the best of both favorites.

The Cheese Sauce is great with large pretzel sticks or soft pretzels. The best part is the Cheese Sauce ingredients are ones you usually have in your fridge or pantry.

Both snack ideas are so easy and quick to make, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the games as well.


2 cans (no beans) chili

1/2 red onion, chopped

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 small bag of Fritos Corn Chips

6 large flour tortillas

Pour chili into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat until hot and bubbly.

Place about 1/4 cup of chili in center of tortilla.

Sprinkle with desired amount of red onion, cheddar cheese and corn chips.

Fold in the ends of the tortilla and sides and roll into a burrito-shape. Serve warm. Makes 6 wraps.


1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon flour

3/4 cup milk

3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

In a medium-sized pan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Whisk in milk and cook until bubbly and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted and well blended. If desired, stir in cayenne pepper. Serve warm with large pretzel sticks or soft pretzels.
