Festus Police are investigating the theft of a woman’s purse from a car parked on the street in the 500 block of North Fourth Street. The car had been left unlocked, Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said the theft happened overnight Jan. 29-30, and the victim reported the theft about 6 a.m. on Jan. 30.
“The victim, a 31-year-old woman, said she got into her car and her wallet and ID cards, which were in her purse, were stolen with the purse,” Lewis said. “She said she’d returned from grocery shopping the night before at 7 p.m. and forgot to lock the car.”
Lewis said the report did not include the make and model of the victim’s vehicle. He also said he did not have an estimated value for the stolen items.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
