Jefferson High School in the Jefferson R-7 School District south of Festus will hold a parade to recognize graduating seniors at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the high school.
Members of the Jefferson High School Class of 2020 will be on campus that day for photos and to receive their diplomas. They will line Blue Jay Way in their caps and gowns as friends, families and district patrons drive by to wave and give a thumbs-up.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to come out and congratulate our seniors,” said high school principal David Haug. “I think it will be an awesome evening.”
Visitors are encouraged to enter the campus from Hwy. 61 onto Dooling Hollow Road and then turn then left onto Blue Jay Way to the high school parking lot, where cars will turn around. District officials ask visitors to follow social-distancing suggestions and to remain in their vehicles.
Jefferson R-7 has set a date of Saturday, July 25, for formal graduation ceremonies.
