Herculaneum United Methodist Church is partnering with the St. Louis Food Bank to provide food and other supplies for those in need.
The next food distribution is from 10 a.m. to noon Friday (May 29) at the church, 672 Main St., in Herculaneum.
Jimmy Sansom, the church’s pastor, said the need for food is up because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and his congregation has been holding a Food Bank distribution every two weeks for more than a month.
“It’s happening every other Friday,” he said. “The times can change.”
He urges participants to check the congregation’s Facebook page for updated information about the food distributions.
Once participants arrive at the church, they wait in their vehicles in the parking lot, where they are asked for some information. Then they are directed to drive to an area and open a trunk or door, so food may be placed inside the vehicle.
Sansom said the food distribution is available to anyone.
“We have had enough to distribute to all who have shown up (at the previous food distributions),” he said.
Information about the food distribution is available on the church Facebook page or by calling the church at 636-479-3385 or sending an email to krystlelm84@gmail.com or jcs7957@aol.com.
