The Jefferson County Library has extended the closure of its three branches, so now they will remain closed until at least April 30.
The system initially closed all three branches (Arnold, Northwest and Windsor) at the end of the business day March 17 with a target to reopen on April 6.
However, in light of the stay-at-home order issued March 23 by the Jefferson County executive and the Jefferson County Health Department, library officials decided to extend the closure, according to a written statement released Wednesday (March 25).
All library programs and special events, all meeting room reservations by other organizations and groups, and all library outreach efforts and community visits have been canceled through April 30, the library reported.
No fines will be charged while the library is closed, and patrons are asked to keep any materials they have checked out and wait to return them when the library reopens. All current requests for materials are on hold and patrons will be notified to pick them up after the libraries reopen.
Patrons with expired cards or fines will have access to the system’s electronic resources while the library is closed. Residents who live in the library system’s service area (the Fox, Northwest and Windsor school districts) may access electronic materials through the system’s website while the library buildings are closed.

The library system’s branches include the Arnold Branch, 1701 Missouri State Road; the Northwest Branch, 5680 Hwy. PP, in High Ridge; and the Windsor Branch, 7479 Metropolitan Blvd., in Barnhart.
Similarly, the Festus and De Soto public libraries are closed until further notice, but patrons may access their online resources from home.
The Crystal City Public Library is closed but is offering curbside service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday during the closure.
