Snarf’s, a restaurant specializing in toasted sandwiches, will open in mid-September in Fenton.

Fenton will soon have a Snarf’s Sandwiches, a restaurant that specializes in toasted sandwiches served on baguettes baked locally.

“We don’t have a set date, but hopefully, we will open in the middle of September,” said Maty Aronson, owner of four Snarf’s Sandwiches in the St. Louis area.

The Fenton store will be at 870 S. Highway Drive, where a gas station once operated, Aronson said.

“We saved the old canopy,” he said. “We tried to keep as much of the current building as possible. We just repaved the parking lot.

“Construction is pretty much done. We need to get furniture put together, but all of the equipment is there.”

The Fenton Snarf’s will be the fifth location in the St. Louis area. Aronson said a location in Kirkwood is also in the works.

Aronson said a manager from a location in Maryland Heights will transfer to the Fenton restaurant, which tentatively will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Snarf’s has more than 20 locations in Colorado, Texas and Missouri. Aronson’s brother-in-law, Jimmy “Snarf” Speidel, started the business in 1996 in Boulder, Colo.

“We offer a variety of sandwiches, meats, vegetarian options, gluten-free options,” Aronson said. “We also serve breakfast sandwiches on bagels, baguettes and croissants.”

In addition to customizable breakfast and lunch sandwiches, Snarf’s also caters, offering lunch boxes and platters.

“All sandwiches are toasted on baguettes from Companion Baking (in St. Louis),” Aronson said. “They’re all toasted, so they’re nice and warm and crispy.”

Popular sandwiches include The Italian, Prime Rib, French Dip and NY Steak, according to the Snarf’s website, eatsnarfs.com. The company also offers salads, soups and kid-sized subs.
