Creve Coeur Police Officer Cambra Pogue-Tucker, formerly of Arnold, wore a free dress from the Bridal Shoppe for her October 2021 Florida beach wedding to Derek Tucker.

For the fourth year in a row, the Bridal Shoppe in Festus will offer a free wedding dress to a dozen eligible military and first-responder brides.

“We are doing a one-day event on Tuesday, Nov. 8,” shop owner Amy Lovewell said. “We’re gifting a new, current-style dress to any bride who is or whose fiance is active military, firefighters, EMTs or a police officer.

“This is my way to make a difference in someone's life and give back to our community. The bridal stylists and I consider this our favorite day of the year!”

It is a no-strings-attached offer, but there are a few conditions for the program, Lovewell said.

■ Appointments are necessary. “Each bride will receive one hour with a stylist,” Lovewell said. Call the Bridal Shoppe at 636-931-8464.

■ Prospective brides must show proof of their military or first-responder status.

“They usually just email or bring in a pay stub,” Lovewell said.

■ Brides-to-be may choose any off-the-rack dress but must take it with them that day. The offer does not include alterations.

“They are not obligated to buy anything; if they don’t find anything else they need or want, they can just take their dress and go,” Lovewell said. “Our goal is to give away 12 dresses again this year.”
