Bachelor cartoon

With spring around the corner, it was time for Eureka native Clayton Echard to clean house during the latest episode of “The Bachelor.”

Clayton sent five of the remaining nine women home in Episode 7, which aired on Monday, setting up the final four contestants vying for his heart – Gabby, Rachel, Serene and Susie. Next week, we will get the chance to visit the four women’s hometowns, and Clayton will meet their families.

The five women sent packing – Eliza, Mara, Genevieve, Sarah, and Teddi – were eliminated from the competition during two Rose Ceremonies and during a group date.

I was heartbroken to see Teddi leave as she was one of the women I thought Clayton would match up with perfectly. At least, Rachel and Susie – the two other women I like for Clayton – are still around.

At this point, I think Susie is the best match for him, but it seems like Clayton is connecting more with Rachel. My dark horse pick going into the “Hometown” episode is Gabby.

As for this week’s episode, Eliza and Mara were sent home during a Rose Ceremony before everyone else was whisked away from Hvar, Croatia, to Vienna, Austria. Considering, Eliza and Mara never had a one-on-one date with Clayton, it is no surprise they didn’t make the cut.

In Austria, Clayton and Susie went on a one-on-one dream date. The pair went shopping, and Clayton helped Susie pick out loads of new dresses and shoes. Seriously, fellas, this is the way to a woman’s heart, but I am guessing it is easier to do when someone else is picking up the tab like the show did for Clayton.

Susie came away from the date with a gorgeous red ball gown that she wore to dinner, and Clayton – for once – matched his dates wardrobe with a nice suit instead of his standard hooded sweatshirt or sweater under a sports coat. I think by now everyone knows my feelings about Clayton’s sense of style.

The one-on-one date netted Susie a rose, keeping her safe in the show’s second Rose Ceremony, and then it was time for Clayton’s group date with Sarah, Teddi, Genevieve, Rachel and Gabby.

For the group date, each woman separately accompanied Clayton for a therapy session. Genevieve was incredibly closed off during her session, and I believe that cost her because Clayton sent her home during the date.

The psychoanalyst who led the sessions told Clayton one of the women was “performative,” but Clayton didn’t connect the dots to who she was warning him about. The other women had no trouble identifying who the analyst was talking about, warning Clayton about Sarah and telling him she had been manipulating him since Day 1.

Clayton confronted Sarah about the claims and she tried to turn on the tears to get out of the difficult situation, but the tears wouldn’t come, and he sent her home.

Teddi was sent home during the episode’s second Rose Ceremony, setting up the final four.

Which three women do you think will make it past next week? Do you agree with my picks of Rachel, Susie and Gabby? Go vote in our poll and tell us who you want to see as Clayton’s final three.
