About 500 people attended the Thursday evening (April 26) visitation for Lance Cpl. Logan Benoist, 23, who died Monday afternoon in an automobile accident in southern Jefferson County. Four hundred gathered Friday for Benoist’s funeral. He had served in the Marine Corps during operation Iraqi Freedom and was an active reservist with the Marine Corps. Shown here, a motorcycle honor guard accompanied Benoist’s body as it was taken from Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus to the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks for burial with full military honors. Benoist was a 2007 graduate of Festus High School and a 2008 graduate of the Mineral Area Law Enforcement Academy. He was the son of Debra and Mitchell J. Benoist of Festus.
